  • Step 1. Start the side step installation procedure from the driver’s side of your Silverado truck. Inspect the rocker area of the truck and locate 5 tabs (pinch weld). You need to install brackets by bolting them to the 1st, 2nd and 5th tabs.
  • Step 2. Once the holes are located, remove the rubber plug from the larger hole. The clip nut will go into the larger hole and the threaded nut has to be aligned with the smaller hole.
  • Step 3. Keep in mind, that the brackets are universal and will work right both on the driver’s and passenger sides. Mount brackets with bolts to the OE threaded holes. Snug but do not tighten the bolts for now.
  • Step 4. Repeat these steps for the remaining 2 brackets on the drivers’ side. When brackets are installed, position the running board on the mounting brackets and and make sure it matches the bolts along it. Do not slide or rotate the running board to avoid damages. The running board has to be aligned 3 inches back from the wheel opening. When done, attach it with bolts but do not overtighten the hardware (you can tighten it once the running board is leveled and adjusted).
  • Step 5. Move to the passenger side of the Silverado truck. When doing the installation at this side, make sure that the boards and mounting hardware does not interfere with the fuel tank or lower tank under the tray. If it does, the tank or tray will need to be dropped a bit (tank/tray removal is not required).
  • Step 6. Proceed with the installation of the passenger side running board as you did on the driver’s side. When the installation is complete, make sure the bolts are properly tightened and the hardware is not loose.
